Healthy Eating – How To Eat Right Without Restrictions !

We all seem to think that the best way to eat healthily is to pretty much not eat at all, but this could not be further from the truth.

Eating healthy is all about eating the right foods, but still allowing yourself to indulge without over doing it.

Moderation is actually the true key to success when it comes to healthy eating.

Another unfortunate problem of today is that most people are led to believe, especially by fad diets, that by cutting out carbs and fats we’ll be healthier and lose weight, but this is not the case.

Our bodies need a good balance of carbs, fat, protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals in order to function well.

The first step to eating healthier is to simply stop regarding some foods as ‘completely off limits’.

This is often the first place people go wrong when they want to diet or simply eat healthier.

By restricting yourself from the foods you love, you’re making yourself more susceptible to giving up early or cheating.

When you ban yourself from eating certain foods, you’re more likely to crave them.

If you are drawn to a type of food, whether that’s sweet foods, salty foods, or just unhealthy foods, the first step you should take is simply just to reduce your portion size.

You’ll find yourself craving and thinking about these foods a lot less now that you can eat them in moderation.

It’s a well known fact that nowadays, serving sizes have grown astronomically, especially in restaurants. When dining out, try something new.

If you know entrées are particularly large, then split a dish with a friend, and never supersize anything!

When you’re at home, try using smaller plates, and think realistically when it comes to your portions.

Sight can help you greatly when it comes to portion sizes, think of it this way – meat portions, including chicken and fish, should be roughly the size of a deck of cards, a teaspoon of salad dressing should be enough on your side salad, and your bread should be roughly the size of a compact disc case.

It’s also worth while bearing in mind that healthy eating and dieting isn’t just what you’re eating, its how you eat and how you think about food.

Changing the way you think about food can often make the biggest difference.

A simple thing such as eating with others whenever possible has numerous advantages – socially and emotionally.

By doing this, you are modeling healthy eating habits, and not allowing yourself to gorge mindlessly in front of the TV, which can happen so easily.

Another top tip would just be to take time over your food, chew properly and enjoy eating, it allows you to savor every bite and feel full one you’re finished.

Finally, you should always listen to your body, ask yourself, are you really hungry, or are you just bored, restless, anxious, sad or even just a bit thirsty?

Not only can this tip help cut down on unnecessary snacking throughout the day, but it can also allow you to tell yourself when to stop eating during big meals, stopping you from eating so much that you are unbelievably full!

Never eat just to be eating, remember, the key to a healthy diet and healthy living is moderation, and that's the key to success.
